Legacy Society

In the past several years ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice has been the grateful recipients of gifts directed to us through a process of planned giving. These donors have chosen to provide for us in their estate planning. Because of the growing number of individuals contributing in this way we have decided to establish The Legacy Society as a vehicle to recognize these very special donors. There are a variety of ways to leave estate gifts to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice. Bequests are probably the easiest and therefore favorite method. A bequest can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the estate. The entire value is eligible for an estate tax charitable deduction. Another popular method is by naming us as a revocable beneficiary of a life insurance policy, IRA, pension plan or bank account. Somewhat more involved methods include trusts and annuities.
Why is planned giving so important to ConnectionsPlus? Simply because the reimbursement we receive, primarily through Medicare, only covers about 75% of our cost of care. We have to find the funds to maintain our excellence of service to the terminally ill and their families. We are proud to be a community based not-for-profit organization and wish to be here serving this great community for many years to come. Planned giving is one of the ways we can sustain our service.
ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice will be happy to help facilitate your gift, please call Tasha Walsh, CEO/Executive Director, 540-463-1848 for more information. If you wish to investigate establishing a Planned Giving program it is highly recommended that you consult with a qualified professional such as a financial planner, attorney or banker. They can discuss these and other plans that will satisfy your estate planning goals while minimizing the tax liability on your estate or beneficiaries.

Planned Giving Options
Bequests
The most popular type of planned gifts. Anything you leave to a charitable organization will reduce the size of your taxable estate, while helping a good cause. A bequest may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of an estate or a specific asset. The entire value of a bequest is eligible for an estate tax charitable deduction. A bequest may place your estate in a lower estate tax bracket.
Life Insurance
When added protection of an insurance policy is no longer needed, transferring the policy’s ownership to ConnectionsPlus can result in tax benefits for you and a generous gift to ConnectionsPlus.
Wills and Revocable Living Trusts
A gift made through your will or living trust permits you to retain all your assets during your life. Designation may be for a percentage of your estate, a specified amount or for the residue of your estate.
Beneficiary Designations
You may add ConnectionsPlus as a revocable beneficiary of your qualified IRA, pension plan, bank account or insurance policy.
Charitable Gift Annuity
In return for tax-deductible contributions, ConnectionsPlus pays a fixed life income to you and/or a loved one. After your lifetime(s), the remaining balance passes to ConnectionsPlus.
Charitable Trusts
Charitable trusts can provide life income to you and/or a loved one. After your lifetime(s), the trust principal passes to ConnectionsPlus. You may name other charities as principal recipients as well.
Charitable Lead Trusts
If you desire to retain ownership of the trust principal to meet future financial goals for your family, but have ample income now, a charitable lead trust directs income from the trust to ConnectionsPlus for the specified terms of the trust. After that period of time, the principal returns to you or your designee.
